Do cases have to be confirmed by the CDC?
For the purpose of public health action and investigation, lab tests reported as positive by the Bureau of Clinical Laboratories or other labs are considered positive. Thus, all positive tests are included in our case counts. Other labs are required by law to report positive COVID-19 tests to the Alabama Department of Public Health within four hours.
